Birthday Boys!

We've had a couple boys in this house celebrate birthdays this summer! Bug's 7th (WOW!) birthday was July 1st. Cousin Kelly and Gigi were here during that time to help me get ready for the boys' big "magical traintastic" birthday party on July 2nd.

The boys' cakes....yes that is a LOT of cake! Bird's Thomas cake had raspberry filling in the middle (yum) and Bug's cake was a cake, layer of ice cream and fudge and another cake =) We had lots of cake around this house for awhile!

We had quite the storm go through ~ yes, that is hail! Lots of thunder and lightning too.

Since Bug's birthday was on a Friday, we had a Friday night movie with popcorn (one of our favorite family past times)  =)
Saturday was a beautiful, extremely hot day! Uncle "Duck" (that is what Bug calls him) arrived early with ALL of his magic tricks.....the boys were SO excited! Although before Uncle Duck brought in the magic, the window a/c unit was put in for the summer =)

Kelly got out her paint and did some special face painting on the birthday boys and one on Bean too.

Yes, Bird wanted a snowman on his face ~ we think it made him feel cooler ~ HA!

Billy played WAR with the boys (while Uncle Duck was setting up the magic.... no one was allowed in the dining room at that time) ~ Bug's face in the first picture cracks me up ~ and Billy's big grin in the second picture looks like he is up to something...I think he might've been cheating =P

Who is that handsome little guy? I informed the girls that I have 9/10ths claim on all their first-born children....just like they have a 9/10ths claim on Bean =)

 The beginning of the magic show required the help of the two birthday boys ~ to find out just WHO was the star of the show =)

 Oliver performed a little magic of his own "I have nothing up my sleeves...but I think YOU have something up your nose!" Ok, Ok, it was a nose stud that Ang had in her nose =)

 After having a snack during the magic show, Oliver took a mini-nap while Karen brushed up on her 1/2 marathon running plan.

 This is one of Bug's favorite magic tricks....you start out with normal size magic wands......

 And work your way up to the JUMBO magic wand!

 For those of you who think it is odd for a 4 year old to get band-aids for a birthday present....this  four-year-old wears band-aids as some kind of fashion statement....yes some days he has a band aid wrapped around each finger....life is definitely not dull with him in it =)

 The Lego expert and his lovely wife came towards the end of the party.....Bug and "Keif" assembled some of Bug's new Lego sets.
