Picnics and Beaches

On Sunday afternoon we had a picnic! Bird was toddling around outside while Poppa was getting the tables put up (Chapin sure looks big compared to Bird huh?!?)

Here is Big Poppa (my dad's dad) holding Bird. Bean started calling him "Big Poppa" because he is the tallest of all the Poppas. Big Poppa carried Bird around quite a bit and Bird was perfectly content with him ~ I guess you could say he had a "Bird's eye view" from there ~ ha ha! :o)

Poppa, Linda, Jesse, Bean and Bug brought Esmerelda (the goat) over to Aaron's to get a shot because she hadn't drank her bottle for at least two meals. Thankfully the shot made her feel better because she has been drinking her bottle. Bird was pretty amazed at having Esmerelda so close to him. Once they got back from Aaron's, Bird had fun chasing after (as much as a toddling little guy can "chase") Esmerelda.

Auntie Becky and Bug discussing dinosaurs. Bird was covered in sticky watermelon juice. Thankfully Auntie Becky was a good sport about it......I'm sure Luke and Lars got into far more "interesting" things that watermelon juice.....right boys?!?!

After the big picnic, the boys needed a bath.....this picture cracks me up ~ I called them the "Floating heads" :o) They liked having *lots* of bubbles in their bath and ask to have the jets turned on every time they take a bath.

It is amazing how much fun a balloon can be!

Yesterday we went up to Springsteel and did some fishing with Barb and Dennis. Bean and Dennis were ready to do some serious fishing. Bird and I rode with for a little while. Bug did a *little* fishing, but when Bird and I were dropped off, he decided that he'd rather play at the "beach."

Even though Bean didn't catch any fish, it looks like he had a good time driving the boat with Dennis. The guys came in around 3pm and Bean decided that he'd stay and play with Bug. So Poppa and Dennis went back out to do some more fishing before our 4pm fish fry.

Barb took the boys out in the peddleboat ~ they thought that was GREAT!

Then they were on a hunt for some shells and whatever else interesting they could find. They did have a crayfish in their pail at one time, but I think Bean let it go. I was also able to point out a leach to them (gag) and tell them to stay away from those disgusting things.

Bean found a new pet ~ his name is "Toady" ~ Bean let Toady go before we left.

Bird had lots of fun exploring and playing in the water too. The water was quite chilly, but the boys didn't seem to mind it too much.

How do you know the water is cold??? You go swimming in a sweatshirt ~ ha ha! Bean didn't bother getting into his swimming trunks, he just went in the water with his shorts and sweatshirt on.
Poppa and Dennis were bringing the boat to the dock to load it onto the boat trailer and park it back under it's little canopy.
The boys had such a good time on the water and at the beach. All three of them fell asleep on the way home, and after a quick bath it was bedtime. They all slept good last night!
