Soccer!

Yes soccer has started! The boys had their first practice last Tuesday, then practice again on Friday...then practice this Tuesday and Friday and their FIRST game is on Saturday (after they are done with their first game they go down to one practice a week).

DoodleBird and Noah practiced kicking the ball back and forth to each other....Noah was a good sport and let Doodle score a goal =) Big Brother Matt is watching ~ he hurt his knee playing soccer this past winter.

Sometimes it is brother against brother out there on the field =P Both Bean and Bug really enjoy playing soccer ~ Weston is the coach this year!

Practicing shooting on goal with Weston and Eric (assistant coach) as the goalies.

DoodleBird decided that he was going to "read" my book while his brothers were playing soccer ~ that made me laugh....I think he was looking for pictures (sorry, no pictures in that book!).

This is a perfect example of "mob ball" ~ which is something we worked and worked and worked on last year to get the kids to STOP doing (which it is really frustrating for the kids when the OTHER team hasn't been taught NOT to play mob ball) ~ we don't want them pushing and shoving and pulling on the other players.

We have 8 kids on the team ~ 4 boys and 4 girls ~ we are a U8 team (under 8 years old) with the exception being Bug who is 5, but he was allowed to play up (he should be on the U6 team) because Weston is coaching and because Bug has played soccer before.....which when you look at our team, you can't tell Bug is the youngest since he, Bean and Jacob are all pretty much the same size =)
I'm sure I'll have some EXCITING videos to post from the Saturday game and pictures too! Everyone will have their NEW blue shirts on (they just got them last night) so that is always exciting for them =)
