Goody-bye is the saddest word

The girls' flight out of Grand Rapids was at 4:25pm (last Saturday). We were very thankful to be able to spend most of the day with them.
In the morning I took the girls to a matinee movie (a movie they'd been asking to see), then we went to Hobby Lobby because they wanted to buy some scrapbooking stuff (yup, that is me, spreading the scrapbooking love across the world!). When we got back home, it was time to make sure everything was packed and loaded. We asked the girls where they'd like to have lunch, and Lisa picked McDonald's.

After we had our McHappy Meal it was time to head to the airport =(

Doodle helped Lisa with her luggage...he thought he was pretty important!
We got the girls all checked in and walked them to their gate ~ and much to our surprise we found some more girls that were headed back to China from the same group that Amy and Lisa were in. That made me feel better to know that they wouldn't be traveling alone. The girls immediately started swarming Doodle....he is a "chick magnet" ~ HA! A few of the girls had played with him on the playground at the Farewell Picnic.

The boys thought the arcade area was pretty neat ~ Doodle especially liked the "cycle bike" ~ and the girls thought the boys were pretty entertaining.

Then came the hard part....the part I'd been dreading for awhile....saying good-bye.
The girls clung to us and cried, saying that they didn't want to leave and they wanted to stay with us. And they told their friends that they wanted to take us to China with them. Saying good-bye without knowing if you will ever see each other again is so hard. We did exchange email addresses, addresses and phone numbers, so we are hoping to keep in touch with the girls throughout their lives. We let them know that if they ever want to come back to the US for school or to visit, that they are always welcome at our house.
