In Memory of George

Bean's beloved pet guinea pig passed away on November 28, 2007. We do not know how old George was when when purchased her, but she lived with us for almost two years. During her lifespan at our house she had two baby "piglets" named Lenny and Harry (Bean named all of the guinea pigs). We gave Harry away but Bean insisted we keep Lenny because Lenny looked so much like her mom, George.
When we bought George, we thought George was a "he"....well, about a month or so after we bought *him* Weston commented on how fat George was ~ that was when I first began to suspect that George was not a *he* and sure enough at the end of April, *he* gave birth to two piglets.
Bean would carry George around all over the place. When George first lived with us, she had a "pig palace" in Bean's room, but since moving George and Lenny have had their palace in the basement (there is no carpeting in the basement....unlike the boys' room). And during the summer Bean would take his "piggers" outside to graze ~ and while they were outside he kept a close eye on them so the neighborhood cats would not get them.
Bean and I have talked about how Lenny is going to need more love now that her Mom died, so Bean has been talking to and holding Lenny quite a bit.
Here are a couple pictures of Bean and George (and Lenny is in a couple too).
We are having a funeral for George and burying George tonight.
