The FIRST Soccer Game!

Bean's first soccer game was a huge success. We were a little worried that it was going to get rained out. We walked to the soccer field, and less than 5 minutes of us arriving is started to DOWNPOUR! Not a good sign! The boys waited with Tanner and his brothers in their minivan (six boys in one minivan.....sounds like a wild and crazy time!) while Weston and I made a mad dash back to our house to get Violet (minivan). By the time we got back to the soccer field the rain had stopped and thankfully it stayed clear for the game.
Keith, Nicole and Philipp all came over to cheer Bean on. I sure appreciate them giving up some of their Saturday morning to come and see his first game.....I don't know of too many single or childless people that would make that kind of effort for a kid that they aren't even related to (hey, let's admit it, not too many people would do that even if they WERE related to the kid ~ HA!)

Bean and his friend Tanner started out the game playing half-back. Bean is #4 and Tanner is #7.


Yes, in case you were wondering there were a LOT of big kids on the green team (at least it sure seemed that way to me ~ HA!).

Bird was playing with Tanner's older brother and his friend.....dirt is so much fun! You should have seen how FILTHY that little boy was! Oh my goodness!!!

Bug was playing in the dirt with them too ~ although he didn't get nearly as dirty as Bird did.

Back to the game.....Bean down by the green team's net. He was a forward for that quarter of the game.

It was such a blast to watch these little (and big) guys play soccer and have fun. It was funny to watch them too...wherever the clump of green and red shirts were, you KNEW that is where the ball was.
Bean's team won this game 1-0. What a nice way to start out his short little soccer season :o)
